Do I need planning permission for an above-ground pool?

Above-ground swimming pools typically fall within permitted development rights in England and Wales — they are not considered a permanent structure in the same way as an in-ground pool. How long does installation take?
Delivery and installation of an above-ground wooden pool typically takes 1–3 days, depending on size and ground preparation. There is no excavation or concrete required. Most customers are swimming within a few weeks of placing their order.
Can I heat an above-ground pool?
Yes — and it makes a significant difference to how much you use it. Our Thermotec heat pumps are fully compatible with all our above-ground pools and will extend your swimming season from April through to October. A solar cover used alongside the heat pump keeps running costs low.
How long will a wooden above-ground pool last?
Our pools use premium Nordic timber that is pressure-treated for long-term durability. With proper care — keeping the pool filled during the season, winterising correctly, and treating the timber periodically — a wooden above-ground pool can last 15–25 years.
Can the pool be relocated?
Yes. One advantage of an above-ground pool over an in-ground pool is that it can be dismantled and moved if you relocate. This is not something most customers do, but it is possible.
