Easy to Use Digital Control Panel
The Thermotec Penguin has a easy to use LED display.
Simply lift up the Penguin’s yellow beak to access the control panel.
The beak cleverly protects the control panel from the rain and the weather.
Simply use the up and down arrow keys to set your desired pool temperature and the Thermotec Penguin will automatically turn on and off to maintain the desired temperature

The Thermotec Penguin comes complete with Bluetooth connectivity
This allows you to control the Thermotec Penguin from any Apple or Android smartphone using the Aqua Temp app

Built in Water Flow Switch
The Thermotec Penguin has a built in water flow switch.
The water flow switch automatically shuts down the heat pump when there is no (or insufficient) water flow and re-starts it when sufficient water flow is resumed.
This allows the Thermotec Penguin to be used in conjunction with a time clock on the pool circulation pump.
When the circulation pump turns off, the Thermotec Penguin will shut down and when the circulation pump re-starts, the Thermotec Penguin will also re-start.
(Note: the Penguin should be removed from the plywood base when in use as this is only for transport purposes)
Using the Thermotec Penguin heat pump to heat your pool rather than an electric heater will save you money on running costs
The Thermotec Penguin only uses 0.78kw of electricity to produce 3kw of pool heat.
If you compare this with an electric pool heater, a 3kw electric pool heater would use 3kw of electricity
The Thermotec Penguin therefore is only less than 1/4 the running cost of an electric pool heater – saving you money!

How to Calculate Your pool Water Volume:
You can easily calculate the water volume in your pool as follows:
Round Pools
To calculate the volume of a round pool, you can use the formula
Pool Volume = 3.14 x radius x radius x depth
- Measure the diameter of the pool in metres
- Half the diameter to give the radius of the pool
- Multiply 3.14 x radius x radius x pool depth
Example
A 12′ (3.66 m) diameter round above ground pool with a depth of 0.8m
Diameter = 12′ x 0.305 = 3.66m
Radius = 3.66 / 2 = 1.83m
Volume = 3.14 x 1.83 x 1.83 x 0.8m = 8.4 m3
The Penguin supports pools up to 10m3 so would be ok for this pool
Note: These sizings assume that the pool will be covered with a solar cover when not in use. All pools should have solar covers.
Rectangular Pools
Pool volume = length x width x depth
Example
6m x 4m pool, 0.8 m deep = 6 x 4 x 0.8 = 19.2 m3
Maximum for Penguin= 10m3 so this would be too large – look at our SunSpring heat pumps
Typical Pool Sizes and Volumes
8′ x 30″ Intex above Ground pool = 3.6 m3 – Thermotec Penguin OK !
10′ x 30″ Intex above Ground pool = 5.5m3 – Thermotec Penguin OK !
12′ x 36″ Intex above Ground pool = 9.6 m3 – Thermotec Penguin OK !
The Thermotec Penguin comes complete with screw in hosetails to take either 32mm (1.25″) or 38mm (1.5″) standard flexible pool hose for above ground pools – ie Intex/Bestway etc..
